Statuta Verone, Vicenza, 1475
The volume contains the five books of the city's statutes, approved by the Doge of Venice Francesco Foscari on 11 October 1450 [c. 184]. These are followed by privileges granted between 1405 and 1439.
The wonder for the recent invention of printing, which had replaced with mobile characters, goose feather or bronze stylus dipped in ink, is expressed in a note in the colophon: "Non atramento nec plumali calamo neque stillo aereo, sed artificiosa quadam mirabili adinventione imprimendi seu caratherizandi hoc opus sic effigiatum".
The initials of the five books are illuminated in gold leaf; on the opening parchment of book 1 is the illuminated coat of arms of the Lavezola family.
