The work of Adrian van de Spiegel (1578-1625), Flemish physician and surgeon, was published posthumously and even its editorial path was very complex to trace. The two volumes are embellished with beautiful plates engraved by skilled Italian and German artists who combine the thoroughness of the scientific description with the lightness of the artistic narration.
