The fragment, coming from the excavation campaign conducted in 1931 in Umm el-Breigat (the ancient Tebtynis, on the southern limit of the Fayum oasis) by the Italian Archaeological Mission directed by Carlo Anti, in December 1953 was handed to Vittorio Bartoletti, then professor of Papyrology in Florence.
The finds, assignable to the 2nd century AD for the archaeological context, presents a representation in black ink and color, drawn against the fibers on the verso of a very damaged sheet. The figure can be interpreted as a deity of apotropaic character, that is with the specific purpose to defend and protect against the bite of the snakes and the stings of the scorpions.
