Hermes

Hermes, rivista mensile dell’arte e del pensiero moderno, a monthly review of modern art and thought, directed by Giuseppe Antonio Borgese, with the  assistance of Enrico Corradini. Borgese was a former student of the Florentine Institute of Vocational and Advanced Studies. Twelve issues were published from January 1904 to July 1906. Among the collaborators were Maffio Maffii, Marcello Taddei, Nello Tarchiani, Giovanni Papini, Emilio Cecchi, Mario Morasso, Giuseppe Vannicola, Diego Angeli and Domenico Giuliotti. The iconographic apparatus is rather unique, starting from the elegant cover of Adolfo de Carolis. Among the artists who illustrated the Florentine magazine worthy of mention are Plinio Nomellini, Emil Zorn, Charles Doudelet, Giovanni Costetti, Armando Spadini.
