The New York Central and Hudson River Railroad was one of the major US railways connecting New York with the Great Lakes Region.
Established in 1867 from the union of the two networks that make up the name, by the magnate Cornelius Vanderbilt, the company changed its name back to New York Central Railroad in 1914, after acquiring other secondary lines.
The publication, issued annually, is a guide to tourist destinations that can be reached by rail. Rich with pictures of both natural and urban sites, it features a stunning map of the North East US rail network and one of the Great Lakes network.
