Walther Hermann Ryff (1500 ca.-1548), a typically multifaceted Renaissance man, published this handbook of obstetrics and childcare, probably intended for midwives, around the middle of the sixteenth century. The text, according to the medieval use, describes what was considered the "world of women", which unfolded between pregnancy, childbirth and child care.
