Effemeridi

Effemeridi, Antonio Cocchi, manoscritto 1726-174

The images are taken from some of the 103 notebooks of the private diary of Antonio Cocchi (1695-1758), prominent personality in Tuscany during the eighteenth century. One of the exhibits shows a list of the recipients of the gift by Cocchi of a copy of the first edition of his work (Criticism over a wax manuscript 1746).

It allows to reconstruct the network of relationships that Cocchi had with the intellectuals and politicians of the time. The other two specimens document the visit of Antonio Cocchi in England, to Greenwich in particular, to meet with the British astronomer Edmond Halley (1656-1742) and to the seat of the British Parliament.
