It is the oldest known treatise on ornithology, in an edition of 120 numbered copies that treats bird distribution in Italy and which studies the relationship between the singing of birds and their territory, written by Antonio Valli.The title page is illustrated and the edition includes fifty copper plates, some of these copied by Olina for his Uccelliera (aviary) of 1622. A citation from the catalogue of Cicognara (Volume I, 1821) reports that "books, which served to the pleasures hunting, ended in childish plaything for the amenity of the subjects and were worn without being reproduced, which accounts for their rarity, as well as some, as the two cited, are made by good designers."
