Vincenzo Scamozzi, L'idea della architettura vniuersale ..., Venezia, 1615.
Vincenzo Scamozzi (1548-1616), as already stated in the title, proposed in this treatise a systematic reflection on architecture as a discipline. The treatise has a classic set up, such as those of Vitruvius and Alberti, and it is considered the last treatise of architecture of the sixteenth century: those of the seventeenth century are, in fact, less theoretical, conceived above all as dissemination works also intended for less experienced users.
The author managed to publish, at his own expense, only six of the ten books envisaged. Our specimen is part of the first edition.
