Euphorion, Thrax e Hippomedon Maior, Ossirinco (Middle Egypt), early 3rd century AD
This fragment, the largest in size of the fragments from a scroll of papyrus containing the work of the Greek poet Euphorion (floruit 3rd century BC), whose knowledge was lost in the direct medieval tradition, comes from the excavation campaign conducted in 1932 by Evaristo Breccia on behalf of the "G. Vitelli" Papyrological Institute on the Bahnasa site - the ancient Ossirinco in Middle Egypt. It contains the final verses of a poem in hexameters, identified as Thrax, and the initial verses of a poem, also in hexameters, entitled Hippomedon Maior, with commentary drafts in the margins and in the intercolumni.
