Magnificent Medicean binding with friezes in gold, commissioned by cardinal Giovanni Carlo de' Medici, dedicator of this important astronomical work by the astronomer, geographer and cartographer Giovanni Antonio Magini (1555-1617), destined for his library. The coat of arms of the cardinal, which had recently raised to the purple, appears at the center of the plates and on the frontispiece of the volume. From the Medici-Lotaring Palatine Library.
