Published posthumous, it was dedicated to the pine forests of Ravenna and illustrated by two maps (Carta delle pinete ravennati e Carta dimostrativa del sistema antico de' Contorni di Ravenna - Map of Ravenna's pinewoods and Map depicting the ancient system of the borders of Ravenna) and 18 beautiful plates reproducing the flora and fauna of the place.
