Federigo Tozzi e Domenico Giuliotti, Liriche, da «L’Eroica. Rassegna di ogni poesia» La Spezia, [1912]
This rare, not for sale plaquette, extracted from the issue V-VI (November 1911-February 1912) of L'Eroica, the periodical of art and literature founded in 1911 by Ettore Cozzani and Franco Oliva, contains two poems, one by Domenico Giuliotti (1877 -1956), the other by Federigo Tozzi (1883-1920).
L'Eroica aimed to combine literature with art and music. Particular care was dedicated to the typographic appearance and the illustrations. The woodcuts that adorned the pages of the book are the work of Gino Barbieri and Cafiero Luperini, disciples of Adolfo De Carolis.
From the autograph dedication of Giuliotti and Tozzi to D'Ancona the plaquette seems to come from the collection of miscellaneous pamphlets (about 35,000) owned by Alessandro D'Ancona, purchased in 1914 by the University of Florence for the library of the Faculty of Humanities and placed in a dedicated collection named after its owner.
